As we reported earlier, it looked like Aebischer was involved in contract negotiations with the Jets and that rumour was subsequently busted. The other half of the story was that he would be attending the Jets training camp. This part has been confirmed today.
Aebischer will be competing with current Winnipeg Jets Ondrej Pavelec and Chris Mason for a starting position.
The 33-year-old Aebischer last played in the NHL with the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007-08 campaign. Aebischer has posted a 106-74-17 mark with a 2.52 goals-against average in 214 career NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and Coyotes. He was also a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup-winning Avalanche.
